I recently had the good opportunity to talk to Deirdre Bounds about a new start-up she just launched with Carl Hopkins.
It’s called partiesaroundtheworld.co.uk (PAW) it basically offers a unique ethical way to host a party, cuts down the stress of organizing one, raises money for charity and may teach kids they can actually give something back. From their site:-
The host of an upcoming birthday party can use PAW™ to ask guests to make a donation to a PAW™ charity of their child’s choice, rather than bring a present. Since donations are made through PAW™, it is fast, simple and easy to use. You can set up a dedicated party page, invite your guests, track their RSVPs (no more chasing parents) send thank you emails – and the great thing is that everyone can keep track of how much they have raised for your child’s party theme.
The site is brand new and on fuelmyblog we are 100 % committed to make as much noise about it as we can.
Deirdre has agree that Paw will pay £5.00 per blog post written towards the Born Free Foundation so by spreading the word about PAW you will also help raise money.
I do wonder how many kids will give up receiving presents from their friends by donating the value of those gifts to charity. My children have far too many toys, when people ask what they want for their birthday, it is almost impossible to answer – so hopefully this will bridge a gap. An idea would be for the children to actually become pen-pals with the people being helped by the charity.
I am not in any way being paid to write this, I simply really want it to work as it is something I believe in.
